Importing Data from Microsoft Excel to SAS

I finally received my priori data set from the Auburn City School district.  I reduced the excel file from a 10mb document to a 5mb document just by deleting one unnecessary sheet.  The strange thing that occurred during my import today was everything was imported as character variables when there should of only been about 2 character variables and the rest numeric.  This was seemingly a huge hassle.  Of course with all SAS problems, there is a world of internet help available.  I only had to use one line of code to change the character data back to numeric.  I’m still looking for a good way to covert all 15 covariates at once instead of each by a single line.  I’m also still at odds why SAS wouldn’t import correctly to begin with.  There are no character values in the variables.
